This hotel is located very close to the station. So therefore area can be busy at peak times. Close enough to walk to all major sights. Hotel is very good for the price . Lovely clean rooms, Fresh towels daily and comfortable clean beds. Nice friendly staff. We were located in the hotel's annexe building which is just around the corner on the same block. When you book in at the main desk in the hotel you are given a map with very clear instructions. Really felt annexe room a bonus as you had your own key to building which you handed in only on finally departure. Also we were lucky enough to have a room with a balcony which was a pleasant surprise. Lovely views of The rooftops of Florence. We can highly recommend the Hotel Aurora for value for money oh yes also good breakfast served in breakfast room in main hotel. Excellent coffee machine.... a real taste of Italy.

My 3 years old daughter, wife and I stayed 2 nights at Hotel Aurora. We traveled from Rome via ES* and was on our way to Pisa (day trip) so the location is perfect for us. Since the hotel is across the street from the train station, we were able to leave our luggage with the front desk and hopped back on the IC train in less than 30 minutes!
We were given a map to their "dependency" rooms around the block to the back side. I wish we had insisted to stay in the main hotel for the following reasons.
The BAD
1) The other building is very creepy the moment you walked in. The entrance is very pitch black and you have to find the light switch on the side of the wall. The elevator is even scarier (cage-style). Unfortunately for us, some other tenants who shares with Hotel Aurora forgot to close the elevator door, so the elevator was stuck somewhere up on the 3rd and 4th Floor. Imagine you walked into a dark building (quiet and creepy) and no lights. I left my wife and kid downstair while I ventured up the stairs in the dark! There is no sign aside from the floor mat that say Hotel Aurora. So you have to take a wild guess with the key to the a plain old door that look exactly like every other doors in the building, hoping thats the Annex.
Long story short, I got the elevator to work again and found the light switch on the 1st floor. I never did find the light switch on the 5 floor where the Annex is located. All I can say is, it is very creepy! The Annex building is right next to a bus stop and next door to a self laundry mat, not your best neighborhood.
We felt so much better after we saw another couple from UK that took the room next door to us... At least we know we are not alone.
2) The room are decent size but finding an empty condom box on the window stile ruined it for us. First the creepy walk up to the room, now finding an empty condom box. This is Florence and not the Sunset Blvd in LA!
3) Since breakfast is in the main hotel, you have to go back to the main building for it. For me, it is nice to have breakfast and go back to the room to pack before heading out. This is not at all convenience.
The GOOD
1) The bathroom has a fairly big warming towel bar. This is a life saver for us since we can wash some of our clothes and hang it dry overnight.
2) The automatic espresso maker, it makes pretty much everything by a touch of the button. I drank 4 cups of Caffe Latte every morning!
3) The front desk person (man) was very nice. No problem checking in and out at all.
4) The price was right. We paid 125.00 US a night.
5) Again, its right across from the train station. Easy in / out of Florence.
Take my advise, DONT TAKE THE ANNEX. Insist on staying in the main hotel. At least it is not creepy.
