Hotel Il Granduca - Florence, Italy 

"Great place to stay"

We stayed at this hotel in early April. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was excellent, providing a short walk to the major sites. Breakfasts were good, and the room was clean, but the bed was quite firm. We were able to park our car in one of the limited spaces, which was quite convenient.

Unfortunately, family rooms are on the street side and you get a feeling that cars or bikes are crossing your room during all night. Windows have to be changed and the rooms should be refreshed - ours was not at the level of the pictures on the web site. For the rest, the staff is very nice, the breakfast excellent and the location convenient. The private parking at 18 Euros is good option if you do not need it at all during your stay which is very likely in Florence.

The room was quite dark and bare and looked like it hadn't been decorated for a long time, but it was clean and everything worked. Bed was uncomfortable - two single beds pushed together to make a double. The lift was ancient and tiny. Breakfast was very good with a large selection and fresh bread etc. Location was perhaps a bit too far from the central area, but that's reflected in the price.

Wonderful stay. We really liked it here.. The reception people were very nice and charming. Thank you for everything ( for the best capuccino and for helping out with our lost bags)
