Golden Tulip Crivi's Hotel - Milano, Italy     

Nice, clean, good english, but their english was not that good on check in that they ommitted to tell us that they were going to charge us 23€ each night for parking the car! Felt robbed

I stayed at the Crivi's Golden Tulip while attending the Italian Grand Prix at Monza in 2006. The accomodations were included in a travel package from ToursF1. I was thoroughly impressed with the absolutely accent-free english spoken by the Concierge at the hotel. There was a Russian fellow also working the desk, so hearing Italian spoken with a russky twang was quite amusing. The lobby was well laid out with comfy couches and Wi-Fi internet connectivity. The bar, while small, was quite lively and fun. The restaurant served a simply magnificent breakfast each morning with countless pastries, waffles, and fruit. The rooms... well they are small. Ours was also extremely humid. It reminded me alot of a stateroom on cruise ship, really. The bathrooms were nicely sized, though and the beds comfortable. Our particular room overlooked a playground at some sort of day-care center, so sleeping late proved to be impossible. The location of the hotel was a bit secluded, but there were a few pizzarias and restaurants nearby. There is also a small grocery store around the corner, and a Gelato shop. The highlight of our stay in Milan was an evening at Cafe Ripa 90. Its a local Americana themed restaurant thats a few blocks away. Since we had a large party, the Maitre d` and the owner each brought a car and transported us to the restaurant and back. I'm sure the desk staff at Crivi's could arrange the same for you. Once we were at Cafe Ripa 90 we absolutely ate like kings with at least a 6 course meal. In the end, the tab was 50 euro a head including a generous (and well earned) tip. A bargain by any standard, as such a meal would easily be $200 a plate in America. Overall, I was pleased with Crivi's and would more than likely stay there again. I will definately revisit Cafe Ripa 90 though!
