We booked to stay at this hotel for the Bank Holiday weekend. We were celebrating a special anniversary with friends and going to an open air picnic concert at Battle Abbey. The staff at Leeford Place made a special occasion even more special for us. The hotel is set in beautiful grounds, very secluded and peaceful but only a 5 minute drive from Battle. The staff could not have been more helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. They helped us arrange transport to the concert when we should have booked in advance and organised a round of golf for my husband and friend at very short notice. When they realised we were celebrating an anniversary they helped us organise a special dinner, again with little notice. There was a wedding on the Saturday night and an Anniversary party on the Sunday and even though the staff were very busy organising what looked like extremely successful events they made sure that we were well looked after. We've stayed in lots of big hotels that are part of well recognised chains but we've never been made to feel as welcome as we did at Leeford Place. This is a very friendly hotel and we will certainly be going back.

Upon departure I was presented with a fake bar bill for nearly £100. I asked for a breakdown, and was presented with a scruffy list of alleged rounds of drinks, none of which had been authorised. I was then given a sob story about "was I sure" as it will have to come "out of the barman's wages". A few days later, I discovered that the hotel had used the card details I gave them when paying the legitimate bill for my stay, on a further occasion to steal money from my bank account. The matter has been reported to the authorities, in the meantime, avoid this place like the plague!
