I got a very good deal at the Hotel through Late Rooms: two nights with breakfast on both days plus dinner one evening for ?129. At this price the hotel was good value - but I would be reluctant to pay more. Although officially a Four Star hotel, the quality of the rooms was on a par with a Travelodge or similar: they were functional (painted concrete walls) and a bit worn (fixtures missing in the bathroom, picture on the TV not up to much etc.) I don't know if all the rooms are of a similar standard, or if some have been refurbished. The hotel's leisure facilites were more impressive: a 16m pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna plus small gym. As for the food - our evening meal was superb. We chose from a fairly extensive set menu and got three delicious courses, which were of a much higher standard than I expected. Breakfast, however, was somewhat disappointing: the usual cereals, bacon & sausages etc. but on both mornings the rolls and croissants were stale and the staff not very attentive. The location of the hotel is very convenient for the A14! It is certainly far from rural (just off the road, with only a large Tesco for company) but at just 6 miles from Cambridge it is a convenient base for exploring the University City. If you don't have a car, a taxi from Cambridge will cost around ?15. There is also a bus service which runs every 20 minutes, but inconveniently stops at 6pm! Overall the hotel was fine, and a lot cheaper than staying in the heart of Cambridge.

staff very helpfull and the breakfast was better than expected as was dinner. Dinning room a little dull and the rooms need a facelift. Pool was super. There is noise from the A14 but overall I would stay again.
