We stayed here as we were attending a wedding. The whole place needs some serious TLC and is not worth ?75 a night. Drinks in the reception room were expensive (buy a pitcher of beer from the tavern next door and bring it into the room that they use for the weddings!). On the plus side the food was nice and the bed was very comfortable. However, the room was small and the bathroom was barely adequate, having only a tiny plastic shower cubicle. It was clean enough but years of neglect make this potentially lovely hotel very, very shabby. In general if you need to stay here to attend a wedding it's acceptable as it is convenient but I wouldn't choose to stay here otherwise.

If you love excellent food then the Elsmore restaurant is wonderful, the staff especially John, and food are reasonably priced and wondeful. On the other hand if you want a peaceful nights sleep in the Hallgarth manor hotel, your be out of luck. Having stayed a weekend there, i was kept awake till 12.30am and 2.30am friday night being the noisiest!. The hotel is adjoined to the Tavern who's patrons are extremely loud. They also have wedding receptions, who's guests are understandably happy and loud. The rooms are tired, carpets covered in stains and someplaces threadbear.I had to ask for my rooms toilet to be cleaned as it was smelly etc..... you can imagine the rest. On the whole staff lovely food great, but accomadation very disappointing. Would i go again, for a meal definately to stay... definately not!
