We certainly recommend the Hotel Hecco. The hotel is well situated above the "Stari Grad" or old city. If you are traveling by foot, it is a little bit of a walk, maybe half a kilometer above the main part of old town. We stayed in a loft room on the 3rd floor. It was a large room with a sofa, desk, and the bed was very comfortable. The was internet access (wired), satellite TV, and a phone. The bathroom was large with a shower. The room was air conditioned, although apparently not all rooms are, so if you are staying in the height of summer, you would want an air conditioned room. Our particular room cooled off well when we opened the 3 roof windows around sunset. The hotel is in very good shape, it's fairly new and is kept very clean, and has a tasteful modern theme. There is some excercise equipment, and several comforable areas to sit. There is an enclosed parking area that can fit about 8 or 9 vehicles if they are stacked in. The breakfast was adaquate, not the most sumptuous, but it is a small young hotel. The staff are very helpful and assisted us in finding places in the city and calling us cabs when needed. Sarajevo is a great city. They have been through a lot and deserve the world's tourists revisiting. Hotel Hecco is a great base for that.

A nice modern hotel, with extras like Wi- Fi and new flat-screen TVs, but no air-conditioners. It was very hot while we were there - about 37 - 39 degees, and we could have used some cooling! I asked at reception if they had any fans, but was told "not at the moment". We obviously had the window open at night, but this meant we had no blinds at the window, as the venetian blinds were attached to the inside of the window. It also meant we were disturbed by a big dog barking just outside every time someone went past.
Also a strange arrangement with a communal area with large TV on the 2nd floor, so it could be a bit noisy if people congregated there after you have gone to bed, especially since our room had windows on to this area for some reason.
A nice easy walk (about 10 mins) down to the town and there is a taxi rank at the bottom of the road, which we used to come back in the evening to save climbing up the hill.
There is a small parking garage beside the hotel which they like you to park in, so you might find yourself blocked in when you come to leave. If this happens, reception will give you the keys to move any cars in your way.
