Despite that no one speaks english it was a great experiece, the whoel family seems to be running the place. Breakfast is great. The rooms are good BUT one can hear what is going on in the adjacent room, so keep it quiet otherwise everyone knows what you did last night.It is located outside of Siena walls but it only takes 10 minutes to the center.

My daughter just completed a semster studying in Siena and I took my son and parents to Italy to pick her up and visit the country for two weeks. Hotel Alex was great, very friendly staff, clean and a good location. For those who have never traveled to Siena before it's very difficult to find some of the hotels "within the city walls". Hotel Alex is right outside the gate and a great central location. Breakfast and coffee made to order topped off our stay. I would highly recommend. Only drawback was the lack of english. We would of had a difficult time communicating if my daughter was not fluent in Italian.
