Sataru Resort - Castellammare del Golfo, Italy 

We reluctantly give Sataru a less than positive review. The owners are very nice and seem to mean well, but the property and our room was in need of some work. We stayed for two nights at the end of March. The resort was essentially empty but for one other couple on our first night. The room was very dark inside. Only one dim wall lamp and two small lamps on the nightstand. The mattress and bedding were old and worn out. Not very comfortable. The room was cold. We had to run the heater on high for at least two hours before the room warmed up. Other than its quiet location outside of the city, there is nothing resort-like about this "resort." The grounds were dirty with random toys lying about the courtyard. What appears to be a pool was green and murky. An uninspiring breakfast was provided but the evening restaurant/bar was not open and our mini-bar was not stocked. On the positive side, the bathroom was recently upgraded and is modern and nice. But even the new bathroom had its problems: no latch on the door and no shelf in the shower to hold your soap/shampoo. The owners were indeed very nice and helped direct us to restaurants in town and seemed sincerely to want to attract more customers. However, some clean-up is needed on site and an upgrade to the rooms (mattress, bedding and lighting) is necessary to reach a resort status, in our opinion.

Endroit calme et proche d'une côte très belle notamment Scopello, si ce n'est un petit problème d'insonorisation entre les chambre (problème commun à tout les établissements) tout était merveilleux du petit déjeuner pris sur une terrasse surplombant la campagne alentour jusqu'au diner préparé par le propriétaire et toujours délicieux. Nous ne retournons jamais deux fois au même endroit mais le Sataru pourrait faire l'exception. Pour ceux qui y résiderait le restaurant du Golfe à Castellammare del Golfo pourra faire une cantine très agréable.
