Palazzo Torre Barbara - Vico Equense, Italy 

We checked Trip Advisor and this hotel had a very good rating, based on this we stayed for 6 nights. The hotel was brilliant, the staff spoke enough English, and were very helpful. The place was clean, and very good value for money. I enjoyed the breakfast of Sorrento Tomatoes, Antonio the general manager was very helpful. When we arrived, 1 of our bags did not arrive with us, and we had to go and get some clothes, Antonio recommended a shop in Sorrento which was really good. Generally, i found that any recommendation by the hotel staff to be excellent, good value for money, and not done with some sort of commission in mind. For these reasons, I would go back there should I return to the Amalfi area.

From the moment we arrived, the calmness and tranquility of the hotel just surrounds you. We had a difficult journey having travelled from the UK by train and ferry and arrived dusty and tired, but we received a very warm welcome and felt immediately at home. The hotel is extremely clean and comfortable, and room 404 has the most amazing balcony and view. The staff are all very helpful, friendly, and speak excellent english. The gardens and pool are just wonderful, and for the first week or so we had them all to ourselves. We planned on hiring a car but decided against it as public transport was so easy and inexpensive. The hotel's shuttle bus in the evening is very useful, as there is very little to do in the immediate vicinity of the hotel, and it was great to not have to worry about driving back on the mad roads at night after a couple of vinos. Thanks to everyone at the Torre Barbara for making our stay so happy and comfortable.
