Stayed here for 1 night - the hotel is very central, only a short walk from the train station and near to all the attractions and shopping. The room was fine, no complaints there. We situated at the side of the hotel so the window overlooked the main street. The only down side is that in the middle of the night, there were a few drunken people outside singing loudly and the windows are so thin, it's not very easy to block out the noise. It wasn't a weekend night either, but I think as it's been said on other reviews, Newcastle is a popular hen/stag night city, so that must be why. Breakfast was served on the top floor overlooking the city, and there was loads of choice as it was an all-you-can-eat type buffet. All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful.

The sole benefit of this place is it's centrality. The caters mainly for stag/hen-night types; at least that seemed to be the vast bulk of the clientele on the weekend we stayed. The staff seemed largely indifferent to the customers and the whole demure of the place suggested that they weren't in the business of ever trying for repeat custom. For the price we were very surprised that breakfast wasn't included. First impressions of the place were not good, but largely accurate. We had to endure the noise of drunks running up and down the corridor for much of the small hours. By morning the corridors were choking with the smell of smoke. If you are looking for somewhere to doss after a night on the beers then I'm sure you can find the same for far cheaper in Newcastle. Anyone else I suspect would have no interest in this place. The whole building seems very tired and neglected in appearance. Carpets were worn. The mattresses thin and knackered. The view from our window was of a derelict building. It is quite clearly the worst value for money I have ever had, and as you might guess I won't be coming back...
