La Canasta - Capri, Italy     

I'd certainly recommend this hotel. It is spotlessly clean, very bright and airey. Lovely pool, and sweet little courtyard with citrus tress, which is where you have breakfast. Breakfast is standard continental, quite adequate. Staff were helpful and friendly. We had a superior room (no 24), which was really nice. Good size room, very clean and a very big balcony with views over the bay. Wi-fi is free, for anyone taking a laptop. Good location, close to the main shopping area. Nice and quiet. Would certainly stay there again.

Capri itself is absolutely perfect and the Canasta is a great place to stay if you are on a limited budget as the Island is very pricey. The hotel is small, charming and very clean. It does not have the magnificent views that some hotels have but you are not paying the price for them. Room 25 has a lovely big balcony with nice day beds and table and chairs, and although I think it would be greatly improved with the addition of some plants or one of the lemon trees that are all around the place, it is still lovely. The beds are comfortable and there is no shortage of fresh towels. The staff are very friendly and helpful. There is a lovely pool with sunbathing area and great view of the sea. It is a short stroll to the most fashionable of streets in Capri and only minutes away from the lively square. Capri gets very busy but you can easily escape the crowds and the location of the Canasta makes it very central , and yet peaceful. This is a budget hotel but with a lot of charm.
