Goldene Krone - Bressanone, Italy     

After 7 days walking in the mountains, the Goldene Krone was a lovely surprise in Brixen. The rate was cheap as we walked off the street in a quiet time. The hotel has been recently refurbished in a light and bright theme. Our room overlooked the local abbey and it was pleasant to watch the nuns gardening in the early morning. The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly. It was also nice to be able to open the windows and not be blasted by noise but instead by clean, cool air, although the hotel is definintely in the heart of the "old city". The Goldene Krone looks like it is positioning itself as a Spa Hotel. We did not use any of these services, but they looked very pleasant. We would definitely recommend this hotel for those travelling through Brixen or if you wanted to use it as a base for a few days. We did not have a car, so I can't advise on the ease of parking, The hotel did have an underground car park which you would be able to use for a fee.
