Lonsdale Hotel - Bowness-on-Windermere, United Kingdom 

Decided to spend a long weekend in the Lakes, you wouldn’t think there was a credit crunch about – most places were booked up solid, there’s so many places to choose from its very confusing! In the end we picked up the last twin room at the Lonsdale, and were very glad that we’d chosen it. The Lonsdale is a traditional guest house, but it definitely has a hotel feel. Just 10 rooms, but all (ours, anyway!) have been decorated recently. D?cor is clean, crisp, tidy and the rooms are large. They offer room service as well! Friendly to the max, perfect location right in Bowness. Breakfast very good – well cooked (sausages were grilled, NOT deep fried!) and the coffee, tea and toast just kept coming. So go ahead and book a room, you won’t regret it.

Having just returned from a short break in the Lake District I feel compelled to write a review about this lovely hotel. The hotel rooms were very clean and large with lovely views of Lake Windermere if you are lucky enough to get a room at the back of the hotel. Bar area was very nice if not abit too warm!! Had a hearty breakfast which set us up for a sightseeing tour of the Lakes. Well recommended!
