Angedras - Alghero, Italy     

It was the second time that my wife and myself stayed at the Angedras Hotel in Alghero and, again, we enjoyed very much the experience. The Hotel is located in a quiet area, a nice 10/15 minutes walk from the town center. Rooms are very clean, spacious and nicely decorated, reception very helpful, breakfast good on the terrace. We'll cerrtainly come back! We also tried the recently opened restaurant (along the ancient walls in the center of town): view from the terrace is great, the food is good (but definitely not the best in Alghero) and reasonably priced.

We stayed at the Angedras for 5 nights, great hotel, well kept, clean, neat, white with minimalist decor, staff could not be more helpful, clean spacious rooms with veranda, lovely spacious clean bathroom with shower, shampoo, shower gel and soap provided. Safe available in room charged at about 1 euro per day Satisfactory continental buffet breakfast, 8-10am, seating indoors or on very pleasant quiet terrace (corn flakes, toasties, bread buns, cheese, salami, fresh and canned fruit, large selection of yogurts, sweet croissants, local specialities i.e. cakes and cookies, wide selection of coffee & tea). It is indeed located in a quiet residential area 15 minutes on foot from the pretty historic town centre. Free parking both outside the hotel and underground private parking. No restaurant or pool at hotel but if you have a car there are some lovely restaurants and beaches close by. We tried the Angedras restaurant located in the old town and that is also highly recommended, one of the best in Alghero, good quality and good service, worth the expense. Discount for hotel guests, ask for your discount card at reception. The other restaurant in town i would reccomend, kind of nveau cuisine, was the Al Tuguri. The beach of Maria Pia just outside town (just past the hospital) on the way to the Alghero airport is a lovely white sandy beach and only 15 minutes drive by car, also accessible by bus. There is parking by the road and paths through the forest to the beach. Parking in general was free on sundays. People all over Sardinia were very polite and helpful, seemed laid back. I would recomment The Angedras hotel mostly for the more independent kind of traveller who needs a clean comfortable room at the end of their day out.
