Hotel Dei Pini - Alghero, Italy 

We stayed at the hotel for a week in June 2008 and had a wonderfully relaxing holiday. We had a seaview room with a nice little balcony, good cupboard space, bathroom, bed, sky tv etc. The hotel seemed very clean, had stunning views of the crystal clear bay and both the staff and food were excellent. You can take breakfast outside on the verandah and the barrista will make you lovely italian coffees as you take in the views. There are good facilities and the staff organise football, tennis and beach games if you fancy it. There's a permanant lifeguard and you get dedicated loungers etc. Plus there are 2 sailing schools for the adventurous. The hotel is isolated, but that's the point - it's relaxing! There is a regular bus service all round the area, plus a twice daily complimentary shuttle bus, that even returns at mdinight if you want to go out for dinner & drinks. Taxi's didn't cost too much (25 euro). All I'd say is if you need something, ask! The only negative side I could comment on are that drinks and lunch are a little pricey, but that's the same all over sardinia (and Europe...). You can head down the beach to the beach bars and get something cheaper. I'm really not sure why some people give it a bad review, perhaps they chose the wrong type of holiday? Ultimately i'd go back tomorrow - it's beautiful!!

Just got back from a weekend visit. Choose this hotel because we wanted a hotel on a nice beach. Mostly Italian visitors. Rooms small (typical Italian) clean and average decor. Beautiful views. Be sure to book sea view. We had 1/2 board. Dinner fine 3 course meal, excellent Sardininan wines (drinks not incl). Food quite good. Breakfast OK . Lunch we ate at their litte beach taverna, not good and very very slow service. Overall I think one of the best hotels close to Alghero. 10 min from airport. Very nice beach but don?t expect solitude since one of the best beaches in the area. We?ll probably be back some time if we fly to Alghero!
