Hotel Reykjavik has a great staff

My girlfriends and I stayed at Hotel Reykjavik for a bachelotte weekend booked through Iceland Air during the last weekend in April. The front desk staff was incredibly helpful in securing our rooms the morning of our arrival and helping us with some miscommunication with the Iceland Air travel agents. The hotel is within 10 minutes walk to downtown and the accomodations were nice for a budget hotel. The breakfast was adequate and covered all 4 food groups. I think it was a much better choice over staying at the Loftair or Hilton Nordica as those hotels were not within walking distance of downtown. The friendly staff really made this hotel earn an excellent rating.

Good value but we had bad experience

Its OK value for Iceland and the rooms are quite nice. But our stay was spoilt by the hotel doing building work on the second floor up until about 9:40pm! When I phoned reception to complain they said "is that a problem?" and "it will only go on for another hour"... incredible. Breakfast is basic - as it is in most of iceland.
