Hotel Borg details: The heart of Reykjavík is home to Iceland’s most elegant Art Deco hotel overlooking the historic Asuturvollur Square. Extensive restoration has returned Hotel Borg to its original 1930s splendour and is once again the city’s talking point.

While maintaining respect for the historical and Art Deco aspects of Hotel Borg, the renovations also included the addition of a contemporary style 19 room wing.

This new age Art Deco hotel houses the privately run Silfur Restaurant. The extravagant interior design includes designer furniture, modern black and white Versailles chairs, black glass chandeliers and Neo Baroque Italian lamps.

In 2007 Silfur was awarded the Conde Nast traveler hot tables prize. The magazine sent its representatives to 30 countries to seek out new restaurants that would meet the most stringent quality demands.
