The first morning I woke up in the hotel, my ankle itched. I looked down to find a bedbug lying next to my ankle on the dirty spotted sheet. I picked it up - its legs were still squirming - took a photo for evidence, collected it in a piece of tissue, and went downstairs to speak with the hotel manager. The apology was robotic and dispassionate, and the manager repeatedly stated how this was the first time it had ever happened at their hotel. I felt reproached by her manner, as though I had brought it in myself, which wasn't possible given my home doesn't have bedbugs and it was my very first night away from home. They never verified my claim, took the specimen away from me, and now claim it was a dried up fossil of a specimen, despite my high resolution photos to the contrary. The room was never fumigated, and they still deny that it was a bedbug, which either means they're completely infested or in denial. Again, stay at your own risk.
None. There were bedbugs!
Stay at your own risk. Bitten on the ankle. Management denies it happened. Most horrible experience in my traveling experience ever.

Great location, but otherwise unremarkable. Didn't eat in any of the restaurants. Nice lobby, but rooms kind of shabby, also very stuffy. Our shower head didn't work the first day. Front desk staff polite and somewhat helpful. Internet access in lobby was nice. Probably could have picked a better hotel in Dublin.

Had a fabulous three day stay in Dublin at the Academy Plaza Hotel. The room was very good (recently refurbished) with lovely, comfy double bed (very unusal when booked as a single room) and a decent sized bathroom with power shower. The restaurant at breakfast time was very busy but there was plenty of choice and at a reasoanble price although staff didn't clear tables very quickly. The lovely leather sofas in both reception and the bar were great to relax into after a heavy day sight seeing!! Would defintely stay there again. Staff were very helpful too.
