5We decided to stay at the Trinity Capital Hotel for our first trip to Dublin after extensive research, and could not be happier with how it all worked out! We stayed here at the beginning and end of our trip to Ireland. Our favorite things? The location, the clean rooms, the unique decor, and the FREE shuttle to and from the airport.
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, the beds were comfortable, and the location was fabulous. 5 minute walk to Trinity College (it was directly across from the hotel), museums, and the river, 10 minutes to Grafton St and Temple Bar, 20 to the Guinness Storehouse.
The one thing to note about the free shuttle to and from the airport: When you arrive at the Dublin airport, you have to exit the airport, then cross the street and walk through the "car park" area - there's a grocery store and some cafes - to the bus area. You pick up the free shuttle from the bus area, but it's not where the city buses come in. We actually missed the shuttle when we arrived since we didn't know where to wait. It was about 20 Euro for the taxi ride to the hotel, but it was worth it since the shuttle only comes every 2 hours and we didn't want to waste more time at the airport.
Our room wasn't ready when we first arrived (early flight), but they were more than happy to store our bags for the couple hours we had to wait. Being exhausted, we returned a little earlier than they'd told us, but the room was ready and waiting.
We didn't eat at the hotel, but everything looked delicious. They even had "bacon fries" in the vending machine! We loved the decorations, and the fire station next door, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
