"Great room, Great location."Posted: Mon, Nov 23 2009Value:
3We have just returned from a Two night stay in the Royal Dublin Hotel. I have to say that the day before we were due to leave I came across this site and read the reviews. What a shock I received, after reading the reviews from people who had stayed in the unrenovated rooms I was gutted. I immediately phoned the hotel and requested a newly renovated room. The person I spoke to was helpful and said she would do whatever she could to ensure we had a new room.
Still, until we actually arrived which was just after 9 a.m. I was still worried that my request would not be adhered to. To myself and my wifes pleasure and releif we were gived a key card which meant we were in a refurbished room. The room we stayed in was a double room and for a 3 star hotel it was superb. The bathroom in particular was out of this world, so luxurious and well finished it would not have been out of place in a 5 star hotel.
Our two night stay was extremely enjoyable the room was lovely, the breakfast was fantastic in terms of choice and quality, the chef was very friendly, he had a different joke or story for everyone he served at the breakfast bar, Very Funny. In summary I would reccommend this hotel, just make sure you requst a refubished room at the time of booking. The location is excellent, right in the hub of the action with regards to shopping and of course the ever important PUBS. To finish, two places I feel I must recommend are a resteraunt called 101 Talbot Street which is just down the road from the hotel in a street on the left and The Palace Bar in Fleet Street which we went to both nights to listen to the best traditional Irish music you will ever hear(my wife was in tears at times such was the beauty of the music and songs) Oh the Guinness wasn't bad either. We will definately be staying in the Royal Dublin again.
