2The Burlington is a rather perfunctory business hotel with a decidedly
dull 70's look. Lots of tour buses, but a handy taxi stand right in front. I arrived on the overnight flight from LA and as expected (because of the morning hour) my room was not ready for a 3 night stay (10/21 - 24). I had a horrible cup of tea in the lobby (hard to choke down), but rhe front desk staff saved the day & my room was ready in 30 minutes.
Rooms are super basic with few amenities (I was on a high floor overlooking the front parking lot). The room was quite chilly and there seemed to be no form of A/C, heat or ventilation system. I contacted the front desk and they informed me that there's a steam pipe based heating system under the front window -- this archaic system never worked.
The bathroom was fine but you had to step up into the shower -- perhaps a bit dangerous for some. But, the hot water was plentiful.
A buffet breakfast was included and is perfectly satisfactory. Tea at breakfast was fine so I suspect the previous beverage problem was an isloated event.
The hotel does attract a strange "club" crowd on certain evenings (I think it might have been a sunday). It provided for some interesting people watching, but way more "OMG" than "eye candy."
The hotel is actually nicely located although I still prefer to stay down on the river, such as at the Morrison. It's about a 15 min walk to St. Stephen's Green in one direction and a lovely stroll in the opposite direction to Herbert Park through a lovely Ballsbridge 'hood (to near the 4 Seasons hotel).
