Stayed in the hotel for a wedding a couple of weeks age. Hotel wasn't easy to find, no signage at all, well i didn't see any when i came into the town. As I was one of the first to check in and was a single guest I was allocated the room over the fans, which was also an interconnecting room. Have to say the room was spotless, nice big bathroom and all that. Beds are very small, now i ain't that tall but my toes were able to go over the end of the bed.... Bin in the bathroom was never empty from the previous guest, as there was razor blades and rubbish still in it. Not a 4 star standard i would say. Wedding was good, food was good, but service very average, some staff training need to be done here.
Since it is the Bride & grooms big day you would think that they would serve them before the guest?????, Lack of cutlery on the tables, no side knife for bread, had to us your dinner knife for this. A pet hate of mine is someone piling the plates onto of each other, if looks like a competition to see who had the talllest Leaning Tower of Pisa. Not very professional.
Breakfast was very very basic, and either the food was very dried up or very soggy, depending on what you had.
Reception on check out was very nice, didn't say too much though nor ask if i enjoyed my stay. Overall had mixed reviews on the hotel, some customer service need to be done and deffinitally staff training.

Stayed at the Abbey Hotel for one night last weekend. We were apparently upgraded because of a wedding that was being held in the hotel but the room was nothing special. it was what i would expect from any 4* hotel...i did not consider it an "upgrade". Needless to say i wouldn't like to have seen the standard rooms. I think the worst thing about the hotel is without a doubt the restaurant. It's dated, cold, and just generally unappealing. The menu was boring and the food resembled what you would expect to get served in a cafe, both in terms of presentation and taste. What annoyed me the most was the price.....E45 for a set menu. Overall our meal, including wine, totalled E130. This is Roscommon, not Dublin city!!!!! The total cost of our one night stay amounted to E350. i really think that it's a bit much for such a place to charge those prices.
To be honest i really wouldn't waste your money with this place.
