Clanard Court Hotel - Athy, Ireland 

my wife and I recently stayed here in may 08 found the rooms very comfortable, the breakfast and lunch was very good during the week but we found the food on the weekends very poor. All in all we enjoyed our stay but found the girl who serves breakfast (lillie) to be quite rude though.

We were in the Clanard Court Hotel last weekend for a family dinner. It was a birthday party with about 30+ people. Not too hard to organise one would think. The thing that struck me first was the way they tried to cram 30 people at tables that could possibly only fit 24 comfortably. Everyone was bumping elbows and banging into eachother, trying to eat. It was very off putting. There was absolutely no air-conditioning in the room either, so everyone was left a little hot and sticky. When the food came it was disgusting, and you had to fear the staff as they were literally throwing plates of food at you. When my husband was getting served, the waitress was serving the plate over my head and actually ended up hitting me with it. Oblivious to this, she kept dishing out everything, spilling drinks over people as she was serving. I had ordered the chicken and ham and honestly, I have had MUCH better at a pub carvery! I should have gotten nuggets and chips like the kids did. For the privces you pay in this hotel, you really do not get value for your money at all. It was the little things that turned me off this hotel, such as not getting the order from or serving the birthday girl first. That is simple manners and ettiquette in my opinion. The staff were very very rude and gave me the feeling that they did not want to be there... making me feel like a nuisance. Really not a nice experience! So with the disaster that was their restaurant, there was no way I ws going to stay the night there! So, if you are planning a party here, dont bother! So glad I did not get married here!
