Hotel Park - Eger, Hungary 

Our family of two adults and two children aged 11 and 14 spent a week on a half board basis in the 3 star Hotel Eger. We thought we received excellent value for money. We had lovely rooms (small but with everything we needed and all spotless and in very good condition), air conditioning which was wonderful with outdoor temperatures reaching 39 degrees, and the bonus of little balconies with a good views over the park and towards the castle. The atmosphere of the whole hotel was very elegant. The buffet breakfasts and dinners taking in the adjoining Hotel Park were first class with a vast choice at both meals and freedom to go to eat at any time within three hour slots morning and evening. The leisure facilities were superb and it was particularly nice that out under 16s were not banned from using any of the facilities in the "wellness centre" because of their ages. The children also made good use of the free table tennis and internet access facilities. There were lots of younger children staying in the hotel, mainly east Europeans, so it must have a reputation for being child friendly. During our stay we met no other guests who were native English speakers which was something we really liked. At the same time, we were able to communicate with the Reception staff in English and, indeed, we booked our stay by e mail in English. The hotel was well situated for walking into town and walking to the bus station and main railway station. It was also just five minutes walk to a small supermarket so we could easily buy food for snack lunches, etc.
