September 2006, Just returned from a trip to Budapest staying at The Mercure Buda. I had read a few tripadvisor reports on the hotel prior to my visit and decided to book. The Hotel was two minutes from the Metro station, so having caught the train from the airport to the Metro it made our journey pretty straight forward. The staff were very helpful, the hotel was emaculate,our room was spotless; not the most modern room I have stayed in but comfortable and value for money. I would certainly recommend this hotel to friends.

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and modern, as well as the restaurant where the breakfast offer meets all the claims. Swimming pool and internet included. Building just renovated. Very good location, 2 minutes from the underground. View from my room to the spectacular castle district. I had a really enjoyable stay here, as you will have!

Hotel is clean and modern. Rooms are small but clean. Hotel staff is not too friendly. There is a train station behind the hotel. The trains begin operating at 0430 each day. I researched this hotel online and found conflicting information from several hotel search engines. For travelers needing internet access, this is not the hotel for you. Wireless internet access is very expensive and not stable. Connection drops continuously. For travelers that want to walk around Budapest I would recommend staying on the Pest side. The park across the street from the hotel was full of homeless inebriates.

Good 4 star hotel in Budapest. Paid excellent price just 37 pounds a night on Otel including breakfast. Breakfast above average. Room modern, clean and comfortable. Overall staff were helpful apart from bar staff that were slow and tended to avoid serving you. The Hotel was very busy at all times over weekend including the bar being busy to early hours of the morning but did not detract from my experience. Was close to castle district though a reasonable walk from rest of Budapest sites. Had a good view of river. Only criticism would be you may be better staying other side of river otherwise I am sure you could use public transport although we chose t o walk.
