Very comfortable hotel in an outstanding central downtown location near the city transportation center. Easy walking distance to major attractions and public transportation. Staff is competent to fluent in English, very helpful and friendly. They had helpful suggestions for activities and restaurants but we did not use any concierge services as we were visiting relatives in the city. We had two one BR suites (LR, BR and Bath) for my wife and self and our son and his wife for a week. Suites are modern and adequately equipped for light meals with microwaves, refrigerators, wet bar style sink and basic dishes and utensils. Full meal cooking is not a priority. Granite countertops throughout. Adequate hanging and shelf space in an open armoire arrangement, not real closets. Flat screen TV in BR and LR had two English channels, CNN and BBC. Beds are very comfortable. Bathrooms very modern with tub/shower and separate sink area. Tub bottom was rounded and slippery for showering. Continental breakfast in lobby area included, more traditional Hungarian breakfast available at extra charge (12.9 Euro). Only shortcoming was we were on top floor (7th) during a warm spell and air conditioning was marginal but the windows do open for fresh air. We'll definitely return to this hotel the next time we go to Budapest.

Comfortable suites in a superb central Budapest location

Based on all the glowing reviews on Trip Advisor, we stayed at this hotel for three nights, and to say it right up front, all the accolades are well deserved. On arrival we were warmly welcomed by friendly, helpful, multilingual staff and assigned a free parking space right in front of the hotel. Secure, paid parking was said to be nearby. The car stayed parked until departure, since the hotel is located on Derek-ter in the very heart of the city, where subway lines converge, and all other modes of transportation, including sightseeing tours are available. However, A good many sights of interest can easily be reached on foot, including the pedestrian only Vaci ut with its shops and restaurants. Moreover, holders of E.U. Passports over 65 in age can ride all public transportation in the city for free. We asked for and were assigned a quiet suite #201 facing an inner courtyard, and traffic from the busy street could not be heard. Amply sized, the suite with separate bedroom and living room, the latter with leather couch/chair seating, stocked mini bar/fridge, a good sized desk, microwave oven, sink, in-room safe, Internet connection for a fee, (laptop loaner available for a fee), and flat screen TV in BR and LR with international channels. All was bright and well lit, including the spacious bathroom with a tub shower and ample space for one's stuff, all spotlessly clean. A continental breakfast, included in the room rate, was served in the small on-site caf?/bar, and for an additional charge one could avail oneself to a buffet selection. A basement sauna, steam room, and fitness facility round out the hotel. For what is offered for the price, this hotel is a great value for the tourist or business traveler.

I went to Budapest for business and stayed for a week at a big name high end American-brand hotel. It was really expensive and it was of course very nice. No complaints. However, when I stayed on for a few extra days I was spending my own money so I wanted a better deal. The Starlight Suiten Hotel Madach completely surpassed my expecations. Very modern, spacious rooms, everything worked great. All the services of the big expensive hotel. Location couldn't be better - a block from the subway stop where all three lines converge. A very short walk to lots of great places. The staff was great too - very good advice on things to do and places to go. I was traveling alone and had no time to plan before I left, so I had more questions than the average tourist, for sure. The included continental breakfast buffet is not lavish, but it is good quality fresh breads, juice and good coffee. Breakfast isn't my main meal of the day so I grabbed a very good roll and some jam and was good to go. Next time I travel to Budapest The Starlight Suiten Hotel Madach is where I will stay the whole time - it will save my company money and I'll be happier! One thing to note: The hotel sign is not visible from the main road, and the street sign on the corner says "Madach Imre Ter." I was a little confused when I couldn't find the hotel and thought maybe "Madach Ter" (the listed location of the hotel) was actually a different street. I asked someone for help and it turned out I was less than 50 feet from the front door!
