Stayed in Hotel Thomas for 4 nights May 2007 and I was rather rather pleased with the choice of the hotel, taken the price in consideration.
It is a rather basic this hotel, no luxury, but the room was big (even with a small balcony) and clean. However it seemed they never vacuumed our room during our stay, but at least we got clean towles everyday.
The breakfast was nothing to write home about. Very basic. Also the beds were not the most comfortable.
The people at the reception desk were very nice and helpful and from my experience they all spoke English, which it seems not so many do in Budapest (not German either..)
For me however the location, price and cleanliness were the most important factors, which it all fulfilled.
Allover I would say Hotel Thomas is a good choice for the budget traveler.
