3We just stayed three nights at the Erzsebet. The location is convenient to the subway and just a block off of a pedestrian-only street with shopping and restaurants.
The room was clean and modern (if a little small). Our room fronted on the street, and when we opened the window to cool the room down, the traffic noise was considerable.
The front desk staff was very efficient and helpful. No internet access in the rooms, but there is a free PC off the lobby with access.
The breakfast buffet was good - and the dining room was comfortable.
This hotel seems to attract a lot of tour groups - so be prepared for a lobby that is packed with a tourists and luggage one minute, and then empty the next.
Although Budapest has excellent public transportation (subways, trolleys, and buses) we found ourselves walking much of the time. The city is pedestrian friendly (walk signs at intersections or pedestrian tunnels under the major roads) and even the bridges across the Danube are easy to navigate by foot.
Restaurants: Karpatia (formal, reservations and jacket & tie for room with music, excellent food). Fatal (reasonable prices, huge portions, onion soup not to my liking - see other reviews). Be careful of price gouging at the Panic pub.
