Given the good reviews about the Colombi from the others, I thought I'd be staying in a fantastic hotel. Totally disappointed. Nice? Yes. Stuffy? Yes. Old fashioned? Very. For 5-star property I would have expected MUCH better. Room was tired, a bit dingy. Bathroom? Still trying to figure out why there were cactuses painted on the tiles in the bathroom - this is Germany, not Arizona. The sink counter had been updated (all 3 inches of it), but the rest of the bathroom was circa 1987. Clearly a 5* property because of the amenities (pool, spa, conference facilities, etc.) but overall the property is stuck in a bit of a time warp and could use a major renovation. Good points? Staff lovely and generally helpful with impeccable English. Only wish they had marked the map with the destination in the right place - they sent me to a rather dark and desolate corner of the city. Hotel is in a great location, very close to the old town. Free pick up service from bus/train station a nice touch. Bottom line: I wouldn't go out of my way to stay here until they renovate to pull themselves out of the 1930s.
