We arrived for a 3 night stay & to be quite frank with some apprehension after reading some recent reviews. On arrival the first thing we noted was the "old world" charm of the area, the main house & many outbuildings which contained accommodation & the Spa. We were greeted in reception by 2 young ladies & were booked in promptly. One young lady took us to our room, across a gravel courtyard, explaining the facilities & dining times. As a special offer with the trip we booked a bottle of champagne was waiting in our room. What was nice about this was it was not chilled but she offered us ice then & there or to take it & chill to have with our evening meal, we chose the latter. The room was no 10 in the "Owl Barn" and a lovely room it was too. The bathroom had a deep roll top bath and a shower attachment. The only gripe about the room was the wardrobe - it had a unpleasant aroma and despite the staffs best efforts to eradicate we could not put our clothes in it. The staff think it is what the wood had been treated with as it was new but it definitely needed some attention. The food & ambience of the restaurant & bar was lovely - nothing negative could be reported. Bar - Old leather chairs, relaxing music, good champagne cocktails (check out the happy our 6-7pm 2;1) they were nearly ?9 each this was a way of having the enjoyment at half the price. Restaurant - delicious variety of food. Great portion size for us but if you like to see your plate full you may be slightly disappointed - however we were satisfied. ?40 for 3 courses, coffee & petite fours ?2.95. The hotel had it's own spring which they filled bottles of water for the tables but we thought a little over priced at ?3.95. Service - professional, polite. Service charge added onto your bill, was optional but we did not note that until later but were happy to pay it. Spa- we were to busy to go to the Spa, treatment prices probably average. Breakfast - On the first morning we had a very early start but they accommodated us with hot tea & toast, fruit juices & cereal. 2nd & 3rd day my husband enjoyed the cooked whilst I opted for continental. A good start to the day. Warning, ladies if you are staying in one of the out buildings beware your shoes, the only way to the main house is a deep gravel courtyard/drive if you don't stumble you will definitely damage your heels! - take an old spare with you to dinner. If you are wobbly on your feet take extra care as the building is very old and therefore has uneven steps throughout.

We stayed in this lovely Inn for one night on a 2 week tour of the UK. Our stay at Wallett's Court was one of the highlights of our trip. Our room was in "the Old Stables" over looking rolling hills and fields, just beautiful. Our meal was very good and the staff were fantastic. Not a cheap overnight, but quality seldom comes cheap. We would stay again if we ever make it to Dover again. Thanks for a great night!
