A very well-equipped hotel but more aimed at business travellers than tourists. It's a good 10-15 minute walk to the seafront, and located on the edge of town within the residential and light industrial area. This means there's nothing to do in the evening in the immediate vicinity unless you want to watch the local men drinking or playing the Croatian version of petanque. It's on the main road to the airport, close to where it becomes six lanes and at an intersection so it is very, very noisy at night or in the rush hour with the windows open. Closing them does provide effective sound-proofing though and there is A/C of course. With no nearby restaurants we ate in the hotel on several occasions. The food was first class, beautifully presented if lacking in green veg (one meal came accompanied only by a small sweetcorn fritter by way of vegetables). The breakfast is wonderful - a great selection of cold and hot food. There's even champagne! The hotel offers a spa facility - though the sauna was out of use - with an indoor pool and jacuzzi with a great view of the mountains. The rooms are clean and spacious; nice touches such as courtesy bathrobe and slippers. Free internet access in the lobby but a bar area devoid of any life. Unfortunately if anything was lacking it was good customer service - the staff generally lacked a sense of enjoying their jobs, didn't always speak good English, and could be a bit abrupt.

We stayed at the Atrium Hotel in Split for one night in September. It is a very modern hotel with all of the ammenities that are so nice to have after a long flight from the US. The hotel offers free internet, a pool and jacuzzi, restaurant, lounge, bar, etc. It's beautifully decorated and the rooms are large and comfortable. The bed was a welcome cloud to fall into after our flights! We had a reservation mix up that was entirely our fault and the hotel manager and clerk went out of their way to fix it and find us a room on a "sold out" night. While the price of a room is a little high I felt, their help in fixing our error was well worth it. The hotel is a moderate walk to the old town of Split. We walked at night and did not feel nervous or afraid. There is also a bus stop nearby. Getting to the hotel from the Split airport I recommend taking the Croatia Airline bus to the center of town and then taking a taxi from there. The taxi straight from the airport was about $70 US! Overall a very nice, modern hotel in an OK area of town. You need to walk to do anything but that also a good way to see the town. Wish it was a little cheaper but all in all worth it.
