The 216 unpretentious rooms are partly provided with air-conditioning and sea view. All rooms are equipped with bathroom/wc, Sat-TV and telephone. Hotel's terrace, surrounded by an oasis of greenery and with magnificent view of the sea, is one of the most spacious and most beautiful in town.

Hotel dates back to 1888 when the Austrian brewery owner Reininghaus built a sanatorium “Dr. Schwarz”, which was soon renamed to “Quisisana”. Besides being the oldest sanatorium in Opatija, which was at that time a renowned spa, the first pharmacy in Opatija was also located there.

Location

Opatija was the first in the region of the Adriatic to introduce tourist statistics already in 1884, and the first hotel on the Adriatic, called Kvarner, was built by the Society of the Southern Railways in 1884; situated on the very coast and luxuriously furnished, it attracted exclusively elite guests. With the construction of the hotel, Opatija became an elite summer resort, so that, apart from the 12km-long promenade (Lungomare) from Volosko - Opatija - Lovran, a mountain path from Opatija to Veprinac and farther to Ucka was laid. Already in 1889 Opatija was declared the first climatic seaside resort on the Adriatic, which strengthened its position as the most fashionable tourist resort.

Good value hotel, rooms are decent and clean, friendly personell, good buffet breakfast, overall three star standard, one would not expect a hotel in this category to have a swimming pool, airconditioning, or the level of service, it was truly a pleasant surprise One bad thing though, the noise from other rooms can be a problem. Obviously the hotel renovation will have to include complete noise isolation
