"My choice at the Langham !"

At our recent stay in HK, we stayed 3 nights at Langham Hotel with our 4 year daughter. Before the trip, I was not sure about my husband's choice; he normally uses this hotel if he travels to HK for work. I must say for its location, comfort & service, Langham gets top marks. We loved the Christmas decor, which was beautiful & tastefully done. My daughter was sick during the holiday, but the nice experience at the hotel kept our spirits up. We were not too upset when we had to use the room service to dine, as the food was good & presentation was lovely. We would like to return for another holiday and soon, and we would stay here again.

Stayed for 4 nights in July 08 as the final part of a 3 month world trip. Everything about this hotel was excellent. We booked a suite and had complimentary club membership. The club facilities were first class with excellent service and friendly staff who made us feel very welcome. It's in a top location for those who enjoy shopping. Lots of top end stores and a short taxi ride to the Ladies Markets - cost of taxi about 35 HKD from the hotel. The pool and gym areas were first class and we felt totally pampered. Would definately recommend to others.

Great for No. 1 Peking Road

I've stayed at the Langham Hotel several times during trips to Hong Kong. The location isn't bad if you like shopping at Boutiques or can afford to blow tons of money on name brands. It's also right across the street from the famous "No. 1 Peking Road" which used to be "Park N' Shop" about 20 years ago. I do like how it is a little off the main streets which are filled with malls so you can get away from the large crowds of shoppers. The only hard part is crossing the street because you have to go down a somewhat confusing underpass to cross the street. There's a Pizza Hut and McDonald's across the street for kids and budget eating. The rooms are also relatively large considering how limited space is in Hong Kong. Like all other hotels in Hong Kong, your hotel window outlooks another building which makes the room rather dark despite having a large window. The only thing I don't like about the hotel is the increasing number of Chinese tourists. I can understand the lobby can be busy at times but I wish they wouldn't let guests pack and unpack there because it makes walking about quite hard. Another thing I noticed is that the Front Desk Staff are increasingly becoming less fluent in English so I was forced to dish out my poor bits and pieces of Chinese to ask for a wake up call, etc.

I go to Hong Kong regularly on business and would prefer to stay on HK Island. However the Mandarin Oriental, Four Seasons etc are now extremely expensive. A quick hop over the water by Star Ferry or MTR brings you to the Langham. This is a relatively new hotel and so the rooms are all well up to date and the hotel feels up to the minute and not at all faded as some of those that were built in the 1990's can feel. It is worth going for a room with the club floor as this has a generous food and drink offering (not just a quick hour or so at 5pm like some) and it is excellent for a quiet and unrushed breakfast. I don't think any of the rooms have a view, something HK hotels make a big deal about, but they are generous in size and so well fitted that you don't miss seeing the outside world. I certainly would recommend the Langham.
