"Best Value in Hong Kong" Posted: Mon, Nov 23 2009

I would highly recomment this hotel to anyone who is looking for a comfortable, clean and very hospitable hotel. It is not a new hotel but certainly nicer than many of the new hotels in the same price range. The small bowl of fruit I had on arrival is very special. Don't be put off by the location as the bus stop right in front of the Hotel, in Waterloo Road, takes you whereever you want to be in HK. It is actually more convenient than most other places because you don't have to walk two or three plus blocks to get to the MTR. It is only a twenty minute walk to most of the Kowloon attractions (Ladies' Market, Temple Street, Jade Market, Flower Market, Bird Market Park, etc. etc.) Study the roadmap for the shortcuts.
The rimflow pool and gym on the roof top is excellent. Very clean and the gym has all the facilities, even though it is small. Very airy and a wonderful view over the city. I would use it even if I had to pay extra for it. Many other hotels don't mention that their Gyms are subject to 'membership fees' and not quite complimentary.
I look forward to my next stay at the Metro Park.
Premises was compact, but clean, and the staff was friendly. They were courteous and knowledgeable. The room was modern and as clean as most hotels I have stayed in
in the U.S. Lighting was good, the view was okay, and the bathroom quite adequate. It
was larger than my bathroom at home. The air conditioning worked fine. The room was quiet.
I would stay again.
I was expecting the worst! Looking at the website, travel forums, and even Trip Advisor, I was hesitant to continue with the hotel booking. But things turned out for the best!
We travelled with our 3 children ages 8, 6 and 3. The room was spacious enough considering the space limitation in HK. It was very near the MTR station, a couple of street markets like Goldfish, Birds, Fa Yuen, walking distance to the Ladies' Market, the bus stops at the station right in front of the hotel. Perfect!
The hotel staff were very polite and courteous. They speak English fluently. The lobby, restaurants, rooms were all newly-renovated. My girls loved their stay! It was right in the middle of all the HK action.
The overall experience of this hotel left something to be desired. The location was great, with a subway station and shops very close by. The scenery, however, is horrible. The scenery consists of a couple of ugly gray apartment buildings. If you stay at this hotel, don't look out the window.
The room itself was smaller than expected, with the foot of the bed very close to the TV.
The equipment and furniture is in need of replacing--it's VERY old. For example, on our first night there, the shower's drain wouldn't, well, drain.
The price for the room was OK. However, the extra prices (like for the minibar, or for internet access), ae exorbitant.
So, anyway, my concluding sentence will be the same as my first one, except that this sentence has a litle note: I wouldn't stay here again, and you shouldn't suffer the misfortune of staying here, either.
