Take the sheets off the bed and look at the mattresses ugh !!! The bathroom is disgusting, the wash basins are badly cracked and germ infested. When cleaning your teeth, you need to close your eyes, the wash basin smells and looks disgusting. Dirty mouldy shower curtains. I went into other rooms that my friends were staying in and they were all the same. This Hotel keeps saying it's being re furbished but over the last 3 yrs I have not seen any evidence of refurbishment. Location is good and breakfast is good. What a shame the rooms are in this state !!!

My partner and I stayed at this hotel last weekend. I had already looked at some reviews and so had an idea what to expect. The hotel is centrally positioned and was therefore handy for pubs, shops etc if you like that sort of thing as we do. The car parking was not ideal but a town centre hotel would be unlikely to have a car park. The system of getting your ticket authorised at reception worked well anyway and no cost was involved. The room was of the standard I expected but I agree with another reviewer that the bathroom basin was rather worn. I would also agree that this hotel seems to be very warm and because of this there was no chance of sleeping with the window closed. Normally we like a window open anyway but in Room 24 this is a problem due to a noisy piece of machinery which kept us awake the first night. We complained the next morning and the receptionist was looking into getting us another room but ultimately the Manager suggested turning this equipment off at night. Wish this had been done on the first night! All the staff were very friendly and agreeable and the food was of a good standard. Overall for the price we paid the experience was acceptable.
