Chora Resort Hotel & Spa. - Folegandros, Greece     

I called the "Chora Resort and Spa" about a week in advance, as I was unable to secure a reservation at the Anemomylos (which was highly recommended by my DK guide, Chora wasn't even listed!). When I called to book, I spoke with a woman named "Anna, " who told me that the Chora Resort has "excellent views" when compared to the Anemomylos--which happens to be built on a cliff. I arrived at the Chora Resort only to find in sandwiched in the MIDDLE of the rather unappealing town of Chora--in the center of Folegadros. The room I was given had a grand view of a gas station/junkyard ensemble! When I went to complain to "Anna" and a gentleman who claimed to be the manager, they both "pitched a fit"--alleging that I was never told their hotel had "excellent views." I honestly think these two were prison guards in a previous occupation. And clearly they had been through this routine before--they immediately whipped out their cancellation policy and told me I'm locked in for 2 nights (I had meanwhile only booked one!). I calmly collected my luggage and walked out on their collective rampage. I relocated to a property about 30% less in price that had the breathtaking views I was originally searching for--the Fata Morgana. The service was also unparalleled given what I had just last experienced... BEWARE--> the "Chora Resort and Spa" is a scam! Read the other reviews too.

In a few words The Chora resort is a nice hotel with lovely rooms and a very nice pool area. BUT i believe that in Folegandros you can find much prettier rooms with half the price. The hotel has NO view and i would definitely prefer staying somewhere else with less money and a fantastic dramatic view over the cliffs and the sea than in this overpriced resort. Finally i have to complain about the reception/management. a) we asked for an invoice, and they provided us with a simple receipt. (we realised that back in Athens). and b) when we checked in they asked me for my paper ID, and they told me that they would give it back to me later (even though it is illegal for anyone to keep the ID.They should write the details and give it back to you immediately). Anyway, THEY forgot to give it back to me when we left, and when they send it in my home with a courrier, I WAS THE ONE who had to pay him 11€. I wasn't happy with that AT ALL! I think they should have settled the bill, firstly because THEY forgot to give it back to me, and secondly because for such a resort which supposedly is A'class, this wasn't an A class behaviour.
