We had a problem with noise in our bathroom, which the receptionist assured us was due to the saniflow system. When we asked to change room as maintenance did not come to check on the problem the receptionist was rude and ignorant, talking about 'us' in front of us with the reservations' manager - 'I've told them it's the saniflow but they still want to change.' It was clear to us that it was a technical fault, and when it emerged that indeed it was a technical fault they did change our room though not without quibbling about the nature of the problem and without apology. The breakfast was mediocre, and the staff seemed disorganised with little courtesy. The staff were visibly complaining to one another with one person on the front reception desk complaining about his working hours. The rooms themselves do not match the description and photos on the website, which shows clean and contemporary finishes. Both rooms we viewed appeared worn - it did not appear that the hotel had been refurbished so much as patched up with wallpaper, with visible damp. There were not sufficient amenities in the bathroom, and we arrived to one set of towels and one glass in the room. Our stay proved to be more Fawlty Towers than fantastic.

One night away with a small group of friends for a 'classy' hen night! Was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the room; double on the 3rd floor overlooking Harrogate centre including parklands and Betty's tea room. Room nice and clean, comfortable, though the bathroom was insome need of modernisation. However, everything functionally perfectly well. Excellent central location for bars, restaurants and shops. Would recommend, but try to get a room at the front of the hotel, as other people in our party had rear facing rooms overlooking an alley way.
Hotel not overpriced, considering its location in the lovely town of Harrogate.
