Location

Best Western Dore Map
The hotel is located in the central urban area of Athens city, yet still in a very quiet location next to the cosmopolitan pedestrian street Fokionos Negri and on the pedestrian street of Aghiaz Zonis.

Fokionos Negri is where you can stroll for a few minutes to find plenty of coffee shops, some of which were the basis of all modern cafes in Athens. You will have a pleasant environment in which to relax and enjoy your beverage or drink at those cafes in the modern Greek style: taking your time and listening to music.

There are also a few restaurants with both local and international cuisine, while for those that do not have enough time to spend on meals there are plenty of places to have fast food snacks. During the evening you may also find a few bars in the area, or even folk taverns with live Greek music

The Aghias Zonis street is named after the Greek Orthodox Church of Aghias Zonis (the holy belt). You may visit for the ceremony or to see the amazing architecture. At this pedestrian street you will also find a few shopping places.

Another place worth a visit is "Stella", a public summer movie theater located just 20 meters from our hotel. The summer movie theaters were originated in Greece during the late 30's. You may enjoy a movie under the Athenian summer sky. "Stella" usually hosts cultural interest movies of the past years at about half price of the standard movie tickets.

What Travellers Like

  • The room was clean, and it had the nicest bathroom of our whole trip to Europe. Breakfast was not spectacular but it filled us up. The location is not the best; although the staff did a good job of explaining which bus to take to get to the Plaka area. There are internet cafes within walking distance and lots of bars in the area but not that many good restaurants.. Read review

  • Nice little hotel with air conditioned clean rooms. Very good beds, TV, nice bathrooms and quiet location. Conveniently located for many lively bars and restaurants just round the corner. Otherwise ask the receptionist to book a taxi for you - you won't get ripped off.. Read review

  • It's a small, quiet hotel in a family-oriented neighbourhood (warning: hard to find! It's conveniently located just a few minutes walk to a main street which has frequent buses to the popular areas like Omonia and Monastiraki, not far away. We asked for a non-smoking room away from the main street and found it to be very quiet and clean. We found the people behind the counters to be friendly and helpful.. Read review

  • At first, I was a bit upset with the distance of the hotel from the Acropolis and major sites, but after our stay, I was pleasantly surprised with the quiet neighborhood which is well away from the tourist scene, yet easily accessible by tram line. There is a wonderful plaza nearby filled with great local restaurants and cafes -- a real local scene, no tourists to be found. Rooms were quite small, but clean -- the front desk staff were extremely helpful.. Read review
