5Just got back from two nights at Hotel Diva. This may be the best deal in Athens! First, it was VERY inexpensive for being a metro stop from key points of interest in Athens. Second, it most definitely felt like we were staying in a greek neighborhood and not a tourist block.
Our room was clean and looked exactly like the pictures on the website. When we walked up the stairs to our room , the high ceilings, marble winding staircase and detailed trim all gave the feeling that the hotel was a grand home that was converted to a hotel--real personality! The staff was very helpful, both before our arrival and the whole time we were there. They were accommodating and professional. The bar area was especially nice, and the drinks were the cheapest I saw in all of Greece. The mini fridge in our room was an additional plus--and there is a true grocery store on Patison Avenue (the main road nearby) to get supplies.
We used the Metro to get here, and if you had a LOT of luggage, you would find the walk arduous. Since we were coming from the islands, we were already quite mobile, so it was no problem. But pack light or take a short taxi ride from the metro if you have heavy bags. As others have said, it is about a 20 minute walk from Victoria Station (Blue Iine)--a previous reviewer gave solid walking directions that you should follow. On your walk on Patison, you will find many shops, food stops and even a Starbucks (!?). We walked this in early morning, late at night and in the middle of the day--and always felt safe.
Overall, I would recommend this to folks on a budget who aren't looking to stay at a "tourist" trap.
