About me: 27, male, from NYC, on honeymoon, laid back kinda guy.... My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at the Avra Hotel for one night in September before we headed off for Mykonos and a few other islands. We could not have made a better decision than to fight the jetlag of a 9 hour flight in this beautiful port town of Rafina. We requested an early check in and we let into our room at 10am. For one, Rafina is closer to the airport (20min) than the other port, Pireaus and secondly, it’s a shorter ferry ride from Rafina to islands such as Mykonos. The town offers many, many restaurants, bars, and tavernas so don’t think (like I did) that it’s just a port town. The port itself is literally a 5 minute walk from the front of the hotel. We had a seaview room and it was worth the extra 20 Euro. We paid 120 through the hotel direct. Rooms are nicely decorated, a little small (but it’s Europe) and have a nice size balcony. She congratulated us on our hineymoon and there was some wine and fruit in the room when we entered. The hotel offers a really nice bar/restaurant, free internet, and there is a nice town beach just steps away! If I did the trip all over again, I would no doubt stay in Rafina to get rid of the jet lag and you can bet you bottom dollar I would book the AVRA. Great hotel, great value, and even better location! If you are in Rafina for a night or two…the Avra is your place. Any questions, please ask – krumblez3244@yahoo.com We also visited Santorini and Paros.
