Niki Hotel - Athens, Greece 

Close to Plaka and shopping

The best thing about this hotel was the location. It was within walking distance to everything. We had a room on the street side with two twin beds- not our request. The beds were very hard. But we were tired. Small room and modern. Clean room. Only stayed one night and it very noisy. Throughout the hallways and the rooms the flooring is loud and noisy-pergo. The doors are paper thin and you can hear the tv and conversations in the next room. They need to replace them with thicker doors. You can hear everyone walking by in the hallway and at 3 in the morning the deliveries/garbage trucks came by. Not your Four Seasons but the price points were reasonable. The bathroom shower had mold in the corners and it smelled- they need a deep clean in the bathrooms but they were modern. There was not a shower curtain but it really was not a problem. The cafe is cute and trendy.

Terrible hotel

It was ok when we check in for the hotel? everything was fine especially the location is convenient. It was a nightmare when i and my husband back to our room from our dinner. We unable to open the door with the key and look for the reception staff to help us but he also unable to open it. We has been waiting so long at the reception to wait for the locksmith to take a look for it. Finally they said has to wait for the next morning to open for the lock, you can imagine we already waste for 3 hrs to get this answer and the ways the receptionist and his manager treat us also very rude and imply that it our false. After that they arrange another room but also with a problem lock with it to us on 2am. For the next morning, we request for a late check out due to has to tidy up for our baggage since unable to do it on the previous night but has been rejected by them and even ask us to move out the baddage faster since they don want to bear any resposibility for the lost as our lock already been damaged. If possible please avoid to stay there!

The place is quiet noisy but I think it's difficult to find better in the city center at this price. Remark : I've had some pbs to pay with my VISA card because of perturbations on the phone connection, but at the end it was OK.

Contemporary, Convenient, and the Best Staff!

It's the people that made this place wonderful. Don't get me wrong, the room was great. Small, but typical size by European standards. Very nice, very clean, and very hot water (my 3 major criteria). It was also contemporary and trendy which I like. The hotel staff was excellent, very accommodating and great to have conversation with. I'll never forget them. There is an adjoining cafe (Cafe Niki), where they serve a good breakfast (which is included) as well as coffee and drinks. The location was convenient, very near Syntagma Square. Just a short walk to the Acropolis, the restaurants and bars of the Plaka, and the shopping area and flea market. I highly recommend Hotel Niki, and will definitely stay there again next time I visit Athens.
