3.8Our family of 4 (2 teens) stayed at the Best Western only for one night on Aug 6/08. It was cheap at 120 euros for 2 double rooms. Rooms are typically small but they were very clean. The bathroom was unexpectantly spacious -- pleasant surprise! Our breakfast in the morning (included in price) was great and ample: boiled eggs, omelets, bacon (mushy tho') & sausages, cereals, breads, juices, coffee, milk, yogourt. They also have 2 computers that you can use for free! Very handy!
The surrounding area, however, definitely takes away from the hotel. We arrived at 8:30pm and the corner where the hotel is situated was peppered with police holding rifles (I counted 6 right at the corner but there were more up & down the street). I thought something was going on but our taxi driver told us this is normal. That corner is part of "drug alley" so the police are there to prevent any incidents. During the day, this area is just fine; however, like any other large city, the riff-raff come out at night. Strongly suggest that you don't walk down that alley at night! Unfortunately, we did and were followed by a young man yelling for us to give him some money. We hurried out of there! We returned at about midnight by a round-about way and it was fine. The police were there all night. Aside, from this part, we would recommend this hotel for budget-conscious folk.
