"Dorian was good"

Having just returned from our trip to Greece, I have feedback on the Dorian..... First, the location makes this hotel desirable. The Acropolis is within walking distance and so are lots of shops and markets. This elimates the need for a taxi. Second, the amenities are great. The breakfast buffet is one of the better I have seen. The 360 views from the roof are unbeatable (especially at night) and there is the added plus of being one of the few hotels with a pool..(a rooftop pool at that). Third, and important to most is the value...this hotel was very reasonably priced thru GTA and well worth the $$$. I'd like to add that you need to remember that Athens is a city..and with cities come dirt and traffic and noise. For Athens I do recommend this hotel.

Location is great, short walk to metro station. Breakfast is good and plentiful. But house keeping needs improvements. They didn't make up the bed, used cups not cleaned or replaced. It seems they just came in , pick up garbage and that's it. Venere.com use my credit card to guarantee the reservation but when I check out, they said it has been paid by my credit card and I don't have to sign anything and no receipt for me. I book 3 different hotels in Greece thru venere.com, this is the only hotel who charged my card before I leave. The other 2, I can pay by cash or credit card when I check out.

Avoid the location: Drug users and dealers all around the area Omonia and Metaxourgiou. Rooms are small, the shower in the tub floods the complete bathroom as there is no courtain or door. The roof garden offers a magnificent view, and the pool is excellent. Unfortunatly you'll get send away rather harshly after 7 pm for it becomes a posh restaurant where you can't just have a drink. As there is nothing around where you could go you can either stay in your room and order room service or sit at the breakfast hall. Both are not good alternatives to that view from the roof garden. For everything else you have to take the underground or a cab to take you another location, where service is more friendly and the meals not that expencive. There are better places to stay in Athens and they aren't as unwelcoming as this one.

I stayed at the Dorian Inn for a couple of nights whilst in Athens for business. The hotel is clean with modern furnishings and is centrally located. I had a room on the 10th floor with a great balcony. On the whole the staff were friendly and helpful. The rooftop pool and bar have fantastic views of the Acropolis and Athens. There is a restaurant there in the evening (which was full) – however I did not eat here as we ate out in Plaka (highly recommended). Breakfast was a standard hotel buffet. The only downside of the hotel, was the area around it. During the day, it was fine, however at night, we saw a lot of drug dealers and takers around the hotel. Although we were reassured that nothing would happen by locals, it was a bit disconcerting. I would not walk around the area at night – however if you want to go out, get a taxi to the Plaka area and back again. (It cost ?4 to get there and ?15 back due to us being out late!). This was perfectly ok.
