Amazon Hotel - Athens, Greece

I agree with the previous review. We did also book a taxi through the hotel site and when we arrived at the Athens airport, the driver was not there (our original flight was delayed). I called and the driver came a 1/2 hour later and was very personable and spoke good English. Got to the hotel and staff was not overly friendly but cordial. They were always very accommodating whenever we asked for something. The room (triple) was big enough for our needs, and it was very clean and very convenient to everything. We walked to the metro, the Acropolis, and the Plaka (souvenir area). Breakfast was continental and consisted of cereal, eggs, breads, fruit and yogurt. Also, as previously mentioned, the lobby and the elevators were small (the elevators were claustrophic). But again, the staff was nice and I even got a "thank you for visiting" email when I got back home.

A/C is set per room form the reception, so you have to ask for changes...

Our family (two adults; three teens) spent the night here near the end of October. The Amazon was easy to reach from the Syntagma Square metro station. The location is a good one: close enough to the Plaka to be convenient but far enough out to avoid the onslaught of tourists and noise. The rooms were clean and well-kept, but there was an issue with the heat going on automatically whenever you used your room key to turn the lights on. The heat/cooling is controlled centrally. We were past cooling season but the temperatures were still so moderate that heating wasn't required. We had to open the windows for ventilation. The front desk was helpful and friendly--excellent English skills. The breakfast was decent. For a value hotel, this is a solid choice. Don't take a honeymoon here or expect a glamour weekend, but for a "I need a clean, decent room and a bathroom" accomodations, the Amazon is a good choice, especially for the location and price.

Modern, clean, & comfortable, this hotel is 2 blocks from the Syntagma metro/bus stop. We requested a twin, were given a triple, which was great. Spotless bathroom with great shower. Very helpful staff--the friendliest people we met in Athens! Only disappointment was that there was no access to the beautiful view of the Acropolis that is shown on the hotel's profile photos unless you book the rooftop suite. Other than that, I would definitely stay here if I'm ever in Athens again!
