Hotel Fresh - Athens, Greece 

We got back last night from a four night stay at the Fresh Hotel, and thought it was one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed in. From the moment we checked in until we left last night, our stay was perfect. Every member of staff we met was helpful, efficient, and extremely pleasant, and nothing was too much trouble for anyone. I reported a problem with the room safe to reception, and the maintenance man was outside our door to fix it before I could get back to our room from Reception. The decor was just lovely, and clearly a great deal of thought has gone into the design of this hotel. As other people have said, the breakfast buffet was as good as I have had anywhere else, and was of a very high standard. We particularly enjoyed the Cava that was available every day. The hotel is finished to a high standard and is maintained immaculately. The Air Lounge is quite magical at night. The hotel is in a very convenient and central location, around 10 minutes walk from the metro line from the airport. Having read some of the reviews on here about the area immediately surrounding the hotel, I had slight reservations about what to expect, but I really do think that the vast majority of the comments about the safety of the area have been very greatly over-exaggerated and it is ridiculous to suggest that the hotel is let down by its location. Whilst the small hotel next door is clearly operated as a brothel, the women are not pushy, and do not impact on guests at the hotel in any way. The Fresh Hotel is located about one minute's walk from one of the busy main roads, and I cannot believe that anyone could feel threatened or intimidated by walking to and from the hotel at night. If you walk around some of the nearby streets, then it is clear that there is some drug activity, but surely this is the same in all major cities? There is virtually no street crime; we walked around Athens a great deal at night during our stay, and not once did we feel unsafe anywhere. I walked around a mile back to the hoted on my own at nearly midnight one night, which, as a woman, is something I would never consdier doing at home in London, but this is a VERY safe city. I really can't find anything at all to fault this lovely hotel, or its location.
