Athens Golden City Hotel - Athens, Greece

I never got into the Golden City Hotel, due to overbooking and was offered a stay at the nearby Crystal City at the same rate. The Crystal City Hotel was very nice, and I enjoyed my stay. The whole point of staying at the Golden City Hotel though was to meet my daughter who was traveling with a group of students from her university, who also had reservations at the Golden City Hotel. Ironically, this group was also bumped, and ended up staying at the Stanley Hotel, right around the corner from the Crystal City. So everything worked out, sort of. Looking back on the experience though, the Golden City desk should have arranged a taxi to take me over to the Crystal City Hotel instead of marking up a map and explaining that the hotel was only a few blocks away.

The property was fine...clean, friendly, helpful staff; however, the neighborhood is so skeevy that it overwhelmed all the assets of the hotel. We, who live in a big US city with plenty of crime, were scared to go out at night because of the neighborhood. It's too bad because the hotel itself really was fine.

very nice hotel and excellent location in athens. about 3 minutes walking to the nearest subway station.wifi connection was very slow.employees were overall friendly. breakfast was excelent. the best we had in europe.you won't regret staying at the golden city.

This hotel is perfect for a short trip to Athens a little noise from traffic but not a big problem. I changed to this hotel after reading reviews about the hotel I had originally booked and was happy I changed to Golden City I would use this hotel again. We were given help to find the sight seeing bus and it is highly recommended and good value the stop is on the road to the side of the museum. Plakka is a nice area

I spend 3 nights in this hotel with my wife. The hotel was very professional. Hotel is a bit noisy in the night. I definitely can recommend this hotel and would come again. Wonderful roof garden.
