Guests will also find designated smoking areas in the restaurants and bars, as well as in all public areas of the hotel.

Hotel Grande Bretagne is delighted to welcome pets and permits 1 dog (40lbs/18kg or less) per room. For their comfort, the hotel provides a bowl, bed, mat and Pet Welcome Kit. What Travellers Like

On our way to Mykonos, via Athens we stayed at the GB hotel, booking directly (deluxe room). Reception was superb, arranging an internet connection and ac adapter as we checked in (i had several e mails to send before going to bed). The room, on the sixth floor was perfect. We watched the changing guards at the Parliament building with a glass of wine and a first class room service dinner (faultless at 2am). TIP: Book a sixth floor room with terrace!. Read review

Because I am a Starwood Gold member, I was upgraded from a Junior Suite to a Deluxe Suite (at a rate of 345 Euros per night, from the Starwood web site). THE HOTEL: Perfectly situated smack-dab in the center of Athens, this hotel provides its guests with every possible convenience: Two swimming pools (one rooftop/one indoor), an impressive spa with excellent therapists (ask for Ianni if you get a massage), three restaurants, a luxurious gift shop, gym, etc, etc. THE SERVICE: Friendliness and smiles are the norms here. I asked the concierge to repair my sunglasses on a Monday (when all the shops are closed in Athens in August), and they were returned to me as good as new within a few hours. My butler called my room to introduce herself, and took the liberty of replenishing my room's fruit and candies every day. THE ROOM: It is rare to see such exquisite furnishings in a hotel room that are so well maintained. From gilt-trimmed mahogany to chocolate-colored marble, and ivory silk drapes that open and close at the touch of a button, the room's furnishings made me feel relaxed, welcomed, and terribly spoiled. The suite was comprised of a generous marble-lined foyer with large, illuminated closets, a small but comfortable living room with sofa, desk, and entertainment center. The bedroom was also comfortable in size with a king-sized bed made-up in the most delicious linens.. Read review

Wthin 20 minutes of our arrival, three staff members had come to our room (first to show the features of the room you might have missed, like a "do not disturb button," second a butler who gave us an excellent recommendation about a restaurant in Mykonos, and third a waiter who brought complimentary chocolates. The entire stay was high class and very pleasant, except for a problem with a very loud guest in the adjoining room, who could be heard at 3:45 am through the adjoining door.. Read review

It was also fun to watch the changing of the guards from our room! After a day of sight-seeing, we enjoyed swimming in the roof top pool and having lunch at the pool side bar. The gym was very nice with all the latest equipment and the spa was fantastic. The food was expensive (as with any 5 star hotel) and the sitter cost us 20Euro per hour.. Read review

My elegant room on the 6th floor had a lovely terrace with breathtaking views of the Parthenon. The magnificent public areas have restored original furniture and period antiques, original paintings and crystal chanteliers. The spectacular GB Roof Garden restaurant with its breathtaking views of Acropolis is one of the finest in Athens, as well as the GB state-of-the-art Spa of the Hotel.. Read review

The hotel is beautifully situated on a square diagonal to the Parliament building, and our room had a balcony with a direct view of the Acropolis. The rooftop terrace restaurant is beautiful and has a breathtaking Acropolis view. The buffet breakfast served there is opulent and the service excellent. The negatives were the zoo-like scene at the small rooftop pool and the mobbed lobby at check-in and check-out.

I stayed here for work so can’t talk about the price of the room, though I did see that the breakfast was 50+ Euros. The rooms are comfortable; the bathroom is modern and very nice. The only thing I would criticize is the decoration, a bit stifling in my opinion (a lot of magazines, brochures, notes and all very rococo) but that’s the only flaw these rooms would have, really.

The rooms are nice, with great bathrooms. There is of course aircondition and a flat screen TV. Yhe pool area at the rooftop was terrific. We went for walks in the morning, and then enjoyed the pool during midday when it was at its hottest.
