We needed basic, budget accommodation near all the historic monuments in Athens.
Our room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the room was quiet. The fridge didn't work and we didn't have a very nice view, but well, for what we paid, what can you expect.
The location was quite good, but be warned - only walk from the hotel towards Omonia station late at night. Don't walk in the opposite direction - it's NOT safe. Please get a taxi!
The Epidavros provided all our basic needs though and we had no problems with the hotel.
Our only problem with the Epidavros was finding it! We took the metro from Athens airport (change at Syntagma square) and got to Omonia square, but walked round in circles for a while, and the area is pretty rough. Walk up Odos Constantinou then take 3rd turning left, walk through the little square and it's right in front of you on the left.
Only 60 euros for a double room with breakfast, and our room was a good size. It even had a lilttle fridge and hairdryer, and was very clean. The bathroom was fine, with a strong shower, even if there is no shower curtain. The traffic is noisy so get a room on the 6th or 7th floor - they all have balconies. We were too hot all night, then discovered the air conditioner in the morning! There was a mosquito or two, so use a repellant if they worry you.
Breakfast is self-service in a nice art-deco style room, very full when we were there, but a good variety of food. There's also a nice little cafe just opposite, good for a drink or a reasonable meal, if you turn up late.
The bus for the coach station (the 051) goes from just round the corner & it was so convenient, we booked a room here for our return journey. A bargain.
Nice people but where it gets the third star from is a mystery when you think what *3 means elsewhere. Area is quite rough and their picture is totally misleading. It does not stand alone, but very cramped in tight littered streets full of hawkers and traders. Our double room was clean but tiny and very basic. If it was just renovated, I would not like to have seen it before. Functionally OK on a very tight budget.
We stayed here for 2 Nights mainly for the location to all the key sights (Acropolis, Ancient Market, Psiri nightlife).
While the property met our needs, its location made us feel a little less than comfortable. The area surrounding the hotel appears somewhat sketchy and questionable.
Our room istelf was enough for our needs but ranking as a 3-star property was a little ambitious
The hotel located near Omonia Square. Its convenience to go shopping around that area and only 15 minutes walk to Plaka. The hotel was really nice and the room was given to me 1st Floor as i requested for higher floor. The bathroom little cramped, but clean. There is no shower curtain, some water on the floor. Breakfast was also Ok, not much choice and we only had once out of 3 nights. Overall this hotel is not so bad, its value for money to stay 3 *** hotel. I would recommend staying in this hotel.
