If you are travelling by train the hotel is an easy walk from the station--just ask for directions at the tourist office. Reception was very cordial. I think I was given an upgrade as my single room was in fact quite a spacious double with a Minster view to boot. The room looked as though it had been recently refurbished and the bathroom was large with ample storage space and updated fixtures. I only had breakfast at the hotel and found the room very bright and pleasant and service was prompt and helpful. And they even make a point of offering to let you leave your bag if you want to do some sightseeing after check-out time. I would definitely stay here my next time in York.
